With awareness we can see fact from truth, when looking inward we may lie to ourselves creating "mental gravity" binding us to our own personal misery. Awareness brings this distinction to the story of our mind and what it creates. Giving us a problem to address or ignore. Once you see the path you may walk it, otherwise you are stumbling in the dark.
